In this painting, I capture the strange, liminal moment we experience but rarely discuss—the irritating itch that arrives precisely when our wounds begin to mend.
That maddening sensation isn't just physical. It's the restlessness that comes when grief starts to soften around its edges. It's the uncomfortable awareness that emerges as we outgrow old comforts. It's the bristling energy of new skin forming beneath the surface.
I painted this during a period of my own healing, when I found myself suspended between pain and wholeness.
There's a universal truth hidden in that itch: growth demands discomfort. Our bodies and hearts know this instinctively. The very sensation that makes us want to scratch open what's finally closing is also the surest sign that we're on our way back to ourselves—changed, renewed, and bearing beautiful scars.
This piece invites you to sit with that uncomfortable space, to recognize the itch not as an irritation to be silenced, but as the quiet whisper of your body telling you: "Hold on. Something new is coming."
