In this abstracted form, I sought to capture the duality of spirit that comes with leaving all you know in search of promise, only to find yourself still connected by unseen threads.
The title "Chairman Back Home" speaks to the influence and importance such leaders hold, even from afar. Though their talents may nourish foreign soils for a time, their true dominion remains in the wellbeing of their own. To leave is a sacrifice made not for oneself alone but with the hope of gaining tools to aid others still rooted. Distance cannot diminish the role one plays in guiding through difficult times or offering inspiration toward a brighter future.
Some see exile as an escape, but this figure suggests no true fleeing from responsibility to one's people. His traditional robes remain a symbol of the culture and community he carries with him in export. Progress requires both staying and departing, holding fast to identity while embracing change. My hope is that this piece resonates with any who have made or are making such a journey, reminding them that though abroad, one remains fully "Chairman Back Home".
