When I set out to paint this piece, I was grappling with the resilience of the human spirit. All around were signs of struggle, yet people persevered with grace. I wanted to understand what spark inside drives us to keep going even in darkness.
My figures portray an observer captivated by simple movements, finding fascination where one might expect despair. The golden hues represent life in its purest form - reduced to essence, without excess, but vibrant in its simplicity. Muted shades frame this moment of curiosity, giving it context yet not distracting from the core inquiry.
Through this work I seek not to answer the question, but share it - hoping recognition of our shared wonder may foster compassion even in hard times. Some pleasures remain that suffering cannot crush.
